God is Able

"Ah, Sovereign Lord, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for You." Jeremiah 32:17

I was on my way home the other day when a song that I had not heard in a while came on the radio titled “I Have a Father Who Can.”

As I listened, it was as if I was transported back to the church of my childhood. Glimpses of the sights and sounds of the Sunday morning service or afternoon program came across my mind. I recalled the gifted soloist who would “sang” those lyrics from the depths of their soul and the elder saints who would chime in with echoes of their witness to the words.

As I basked in those sweet memories, I began to think about how I learned songs such as “I Have a Father Who Can” as a child because they were a choir staple, but now their lyrics ring true in my life.

Through life’s circumstances, we become acquainted with the many attributes of God. The lyrics of “I Have a Father Who Can” remind us that God is the creator of the universe, yet He takes a personal interest in each of us and is deeply concerned with the intimate details of our lives. Even though He reigns in the highest of heavens, He watches over each of us, guiding and protecting us through every step we take.

When life doesn’t make sense, when we're unsure of what the future holds, we can rest in the knowledge that God is all-seeing, all-knowing, and all-powerful. His love transcends human understanding, providing us with strength, guidance, and eternal refuge. Even in the unknown, we can trust that our Father sees the way ahead and is right there with us.
